3/17/14 "I Remember My First Time"
OH TWITTER. Where do I even begin. Since I have begun my Masters degree through the University of St. Joseph's, I have met numerous teachers with numerous teaching styles. My current teacher began our course with twitter. I was mind blown. All I thought was, "FINALLY!" A teacher showing us up to date technology and how to incorporate it into our everyday teacher lives". THERE IS A GOD. I have only been using TWITTER for a few weeks now and I think its okay for me to finally tell you how I feel. It is extremely #OVERWHELMING. Twitter to me seems like a time filler. If I was bored in an airport waiting around: I would use twitter. If I was stuck on a train ride for multiple hours: I would use twitter. For everyday life, #Twitterisnotforme. It is too much clutter. I do not like the fact that friends of your friends and their friends can post things that end up on your feed and space. I am exhausted just writing that. It is not organized enough for my ocd self! I think that is the main thing that drives me batty. One thing I must say that IS useful about twitter is that it stores things you like or favorite on your own wall. If it was something that interested you, one can always refer to them in the future if necessary. The only thing I find myself doing lately on twitter is complaining about twitter. Maybe the next few weeks of using it will change my mind..#Illbethejudgeofthat.

OKAY. So what if I changed my mind about twitter after just 2 days? I am starting to stumble upon interesting things here and there but I STILL THINK ITS OVERWHELMING! Lately I have been following more ARTSY people and groups and its been a: #WIN! I recently began following "Arts and Ideas" of New Haven. This is something specifically local to my work environment and involves myself with the community!~ Here I can follow any important dates/ideas/ART from right in my area! Hopefully I can attend one of the festival dates or more to see what is out there right under my nose! https://twitter.com/ArtIdea

3/26/14 "Whatcha think about that..."
So for Grad homework, we had to check out a bunch of different technology tools/websites and choose one we would like to use in the future. Since I have done the whole prezi thing twice now, I figured its time to move on to something new. I chose prezi two times in the past because it was "easy to understand" and "quick". These are two things full time teachers love in life. QUICK and EASY grad homework that they will actually use! This time, I took a gander at www.emaze.com. I love the way it is aesthetically pleasing! It seems very modern and up to date and a bit similar to prezi but in my eyes, cooler. It is still simple to use, (which is a must) and seems like a lot of the work is done for you! You can upload your own pictures or some from the web so quickly. It also auto saves which is also the best. I am excited to use it! It seems a bit more engaging than prezi with the 3D visuals and cool transitions. I feel like it is prezi on steroids!
Here is a presentation I created using EMAZE.... http://app.emaze.com/268765/djembe-drums

4/1/14 "Whatcha think about that 2...."
The second tool/website I decided to explore was www.haikudeck.com. One thing I immediately noticed is that you cannot incorporate your own video. You can probably probably paste a youtube link in from somewhere else but I do not believe you can upload your own video from your computer. Slightly Upsetting. I DID like the way you can search key words in order to find pictures/backgrounds for your slides. The website seems very simple which sometimes lacks creativity. Although there are many pictures to choose from; I wish there was a place to insert both video and or sound/music. As emaze; Haiku Deck seems very up to date with its modern design choices. Overall, I would rate Haiku Deck a B+ from my teacher point of view. If I had to create a simple power point presentation with just pictures and text; i would definitely choose Haiku Deck over both power point and Emaze.

4/4/16 "Technology is All Around Us...Time to Take Advantage!"
Hey. I was just thinking out loud about how much technology is actually available in my school. We do have the white boards with the projector but we also have a complete tech lab which I have never used. Due to me teaching "Art on a Cart" my schedule and travel path around the building is a hectic one. I realized my goal is to take at least half of the grades I teach to the tech lab before the end of the year. I want me students to make the connection between art and computers and I realized I haven't really given them that opportunity. Its time for me to think outside the box and reserve a spot in the lab. I have no clue what I want them to do, or how; but I know I want to get them in there. I have used the white boards with the projector a view times to have students view reproductions of work, pictures, etc. Now it's time to let THEM control the technology. I will let you know how it turns out once I figure out a lesson idea! Stay tuned :)

4/9/14 "ARTS AND CRAFTS DAY!"
So last year when I was working at a different school, a co=worker of mine and myself created a first annual "Art Day" at our school! It ran great! The students/teachers all had a blast with the day! The students in grades prek-6 were able to do an art project, have a snack, and even get their face painted! There was music, decorations, and a whole lot of creativity happening! This year, I am at a different school and pitched the idea to my new principal who loved it. I figured we could make a website for our school just for the Art Dept. and take pictures at the event to add to the webpage! I have been using weebly as well as emaze as tools thus far. I was hoping to experiment with other websites next class to figure out one that could work for this special need of a website that I would like to create! If anyone knows any good suggestions please feel free to leave me any! :) I am hoping to incorporate art/technology/music for this special day! Finger's crossed!

4/17/14 "Calling All Art Teachers"
Anyone have any ideas for a cute mother's day project? Due to me teaching part time last year I felt like my creative level was not up to par. Most of the time in the younger grades the homeroom teacher's came up with such cute project ideas that I always think "Man why didn't I think of that". After all MY class is the one time the students can get messy and make keepsakes that parents will keep forever right? So let me in on any cute ideas that I can try with students ranging in grades K-4 :)

4/22/14 "Calling All Art Teachers Part 2"
Hey ART teachers! I know the end of the year is nearing and project ideas slowly get thrown together to get that last good project in before mid June arrives. I wanted to take each of my classes to the computer lab sometime in June to work on some fun Art websites. I obviously would like them to be creative and somewhat educational instead of giving kids free-time or programs like paint. Got any tech websites or tools you've used that pertain to art that were really fun!? PLEASE SHARE! I would probably take my 1st through 4th grades but any and all ideas would be helpful! I am K-12 certified so you never know when you may need to increase or decrease your criteria for students of multi-ages.
